The Gift of Flowers
Romantic Gifts

These days some people think flowers are a little trite or old-fashioned, but I disagree, I think they're a classic that never really goes out of style. Women will always love them because they're fresh, beautiful, smell great, and are a tangible display of your affections.
Now most guys will stop by the supermarket or florist and just pick out a bouquet that looks nice, which is fine, but why not go the extra mile and choose flowers that tell a story and have meaning? Most of us pretty much know that red flowers symbolize love, but there was a time when all flowers had different meanings and purposes. It was back during the Victorian era when displays of love or emotions were considered inappropriate, so an entire language evolved around the giving of flowers. Using these old, romantic meanings, you can buy flowers to wish her luck, compliment her character, reminisce about good times you've had, or just tell her she has beautiful eyes. It's a unique slant on a classic gift and she'll love that you took the time to do something special!
When you do present her with a bouquet, let her know what they mean with a simple, heartfelt note like "At lunch today the waitress reminded me of the one in Hawaii who dropped our lunches on the floor and it brought me back to all of the amazing things we did there. I chose these flowers because they symbolize remembrance and I wanted to let you know how often I think of you and what an important part of my life you've become." Ok, maybe too thick for some of you, but you get the idea. If you don't want to go with the message, maybe just pick up her birth month flower.
I'm basically addressing this section to the guys since, well, let's face it, they'll be doing the giving. And don't worry about them feeling left out girls, this is the way they like it. It doesn't matter how nice you think flowers make his place look or smell, trust me, he doesn't really want them.
