romantic ideas
These ideas are for those of you who want to do something romantic for your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, or wife, but without going the full date idea route. Use them to spice up your love life today!
Do you remember what first drew you to your partner? Maybe it was their hair, or smile, or just the way they looked in a pair of jeans. Why not write a little note this week to remind them what an amazingly attractive person they are? They already know you love them, so do it from a stranger's point of view, as if you're a random guy or girl stumbling across them for the very first time.
Something like "If I were a stranger, I couldn't help but notice you walking down the street in that blue dress you love so much. The graceful way you stroll through life without ever looking hurried. And then I'd see your eyes. Those beautiful, brown eyes and how they sparkle mischievously when you smile..." You get the idea. Maybe end it with an "If I were a stranger passing you on the street, I'd have you on my mind all day."
Write out all the amazing things you'd notice about them and mail it off (no email here). They'll appreciate the reminder.

Imagine your partner sitting there, toiling through the daily grind at work or school and then there it is - a box with their name on it. "What's this?" they wonder with glee, "A present for little ole me?" Heart overflowing with joy, they no longer notice the fluorescent-lit cubicle walls that were choking their soul but mere moments ago. No, now it's all about rainbows and unicorns as they slowly unwrap their little gift. And what they find makes them break into a big fat smile from ear to ear, so pat yourself on the back my friend, you just earned some sweet sweet lovin'! All for $3.78. Nice.
So the idea is to send your sweetie a new little give each day for a week. Keep it small, the fun is more in receiving a new surprise every day than the price of the gift itself, so I wouldn't spend more than $5 or $10 for any present. Start the week out with sweet, fun gifts and end it with a whole lotta sexy. By the time the weekend gets here you'll have them raring to go! Here are some ideas:
Sweet Monday
Single piece of their favorite chocolate, chocolate covered strawberry, homemade cookies or brownies, or a candy conversation heart.
Fun Tuesday
Something you can do together after work like a Frisbee or kite. Or maybe something funny like an action figure that reminds you of some time spent together.
Sentimental Wednesday
Send a photo of you two together, one of a spot that has special meaning (first date?), or a little collage of your favorite times.
Romantic Thursday
A love note, single flower, or one of their favorite poems.
Sexy Friday
Massage oil or candles make good sexy gifts, or you could spend a little more today and buy lingerie or whatever else comes to mind!
Use your imagination to think up others that they’ll enjoy, like Musical Monday where you send them their current favorite song. You know the one they always blast when it comes on the radio.

Guys love a good surprise. Tickets to a ballgame, a free round of drinks, or scantily-clad hotties giving them a little peek. Since #3 doesn't come around very often (unless he's hanging out you-know-where), why not give it to him this week?
Put on some sexy lingerie, or nothing at all, top it off with a rain coat, and go knocking on his door. When he opens up and there's that brief flash of "What's with the raincoat?" on his face, start peeling it back to show him what you have in store. Not the quick flash that pervs dish out in Central Park, but a slow, confident unfolding. Couple it with a cheesy line like "I thought this might interest you" or "Do you see anything you like?" and you've got all the makings for 9 or 10 minutes of steamy romance. Maybe even 15!

One of the great things about summer is being able to enjoy evenings outside together without freezing to death – walks on the beach, maybe a moonlit row, or watching meteor showers from a secluded hilltop. Luckily for us in the northern hemisphere, one of the biggest meteor showers of the year, the Perseids, peaks in only a few short weeks (August 12). That's right, the Swift-Tuttle comet is about to start taking a cosmic dump on us earthlings again, isn't it great?! For the rest of the year check this meteor shower chart to find one coming to a city near you.
When planning your trip, remember a cozy blanket for snuggling, a thermos of hot cocoa or bottle of wine, sweet treats, and make sure you get far enough away from the city lights to actually see those little bits of star-stuff come streaking down to earth. Summer's halfway over, enjoy it while it lasts!

We all love chocolate. Whether you admit it or not, I think we've all looked like this little girl more than a few times in our lives as we pigged-out on that sweet, chocolaty goodness. You're thinking "Ok, chocolates are kinda romantic, but this is about as obvious as it gets." Keep reading grasshopper, we're not done yet. The idea is not to pick up a box from Walmart, or Sees, or even Godiva, which has some pretty good chocolate. No sir, I'm talking about chocolate that's so smooth, so delicious, it will blow your honey bunny's mind! Because they deserve the best, right?
Here's a list of some truly great chocolatiers. I highly recommend Chuao because they have some of the most unusual flavors and are here in San Diego (w00t!) so I'm pretty familiar with their stuff. The others are great too, so you really can't go wrong.
Chuao (pronounced chew-wow)
They're famous for the Firecracker and Spicy Maya bars but also have excellent bon bons. Tell em Dave sent you and receive 0% off!
Recchiuti Confections
These guys are based in San Francisco and I've purchased their gift boxes a few times. They always go over well.
Scharffenberger
An excellent chocolatier whose chocolate-making video is featured in the Make Chocolate from Scratch date idea. Try the tasting squares.
Amedei
Don't know as much about this brand but it's supposed to be top notch. Their chocolates are carried by chocosphere.com but you may be able to find them elsewhere.
L.A. Burdick
Ditto here but I’ve heard good things.
